What are anti-wrinkle treatments?
Anti-wrinkle treatments are a super popular way to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, giving your skin a fresher, more youthful look. They involve tiny injections that relax specific muscles in your face—helping to soften those expression lines we all have, like frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead creases.
How does it stop movement?
Here’s the science bit (we’ll keep it simple!): Anti-wrinkle treatments use a purified protein that temporarily blocks the signal from your nerves to your muscles. When the muscle doesn’t get the “contract” message, it relaxes, which means smoother skin above it.
What is Botox?
Botox is actually a brand of anti-wrinkle treatment—kind of like how Hoover is a brand of vacuum cleaner. It’s just one of several brands available, but it’s so well-known that people often use “Botox” to describe all anti-wrinkle injections.

At Hannah Spence Aesthetics, we always use Botox.
How long does Botox last?
Results typically last around 3 to 4 months, but this can vary depending on your individual body, lifestyle, and how often you’ve had treatments in the past.
How long does Botox stay in my system?
The product itself breaks down and leaves your system within a few days to weeks. The effects on your muscles last longer because your body naturally regenerates the nerve signals over time.
Does it hurt?
Not much! The needles are super fine, so most people say it feels like a tiny pinch or scratch.
What are the risks?
Anti-wrinkle treatments are very safe when done by a trained professional. That said, like with any treatment, there are potential side effects, such as mild redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection site., we’ll talk you through everything in your consultation.
Who is suitable for anti-wrinkle treatments?
Most adults looking to smooth out wrinkles or prevent them from forming are great candidates. However, we’ll check your medical history during your consultation to make sure it’s right for you.
Who might not be suitable?
If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, have certain medical conditions, or are allergic to any of the ingredients, anti-wrinkle treatments might not be for you. But don’t worry—we’ll chat through all this to keep you safe and happy.
